Chelsea? morale = a spirit of endurance

How many times do you see a team down to ten men and then go on to win the game? Frequently actually.

Yesterday as Captain, John Terry did something stupid and let his Club down. But the team went on to win as a result. I knew they would, because it happens.

How many times do you find that teamwork under real pressure, and against the odds, generates the best results? I recall working in an office working under terrible conditions, with many less staff than we should have, where almost daily staff would literally break down under pressure. Yet I have never worked anywhere else where the teamwork has been so strong and the bonds between people have endured the test of time.

So that is why I always define the word Morale as ‘a spirit of endurance’.

How great would it be if you could invent a ‘moralometer’ – like a barometer on the wall that registered when ‘the mood was up’, the spirit strong, the challenges were being faced?

A good LBBC meeting this morning. We’ve had a few leadership and membership challenges ourselves – just like networking clubs do. Today however, down to ten men metaphorically, the moralometer was flickering, the job got done and we go about our true business today with the usual Wednesday spring in our step.
