A change to the usual format of speakers this morning, with Pauline Roby of the GoCycle initiative in Leighton Linslade telling the group about her organisation.
Usually, one member gives a 5 minute business-related talk, and another a 10 minute talk on their own business. We all learn more, and about other members’ business, meaning we can then generate referrals between us.
Pauline used the time to explain this centrally-funded initiative to get more people on their bikes. This includes:
- Cycle training (for kids and adults)
- A scheme for buying a bike (for payroll-employees – see www.CycleToWorkNow.Com)
- Installation of bike parking for businesses
- Recommended children’s cycling routes & destinations
- Cycling routes for adults
In Leighton Linslade, there is also a regular bike maintenance presence at the market on Tuesdays, with more investment in cycling at the station on the way.

The combination of the information on offer & Pauline’s enthusiasm and insight made for a very well-received talk, and even talk of a group cycle training session…
